Cosplay Contest Guide

To create a safe and enjoyable environment for all attendees at SkasdiCon, we have established a set of rules for everyone to follow.

Craftsmanship Contest

Online Registration: Coming Soon

The craftmanship contest is for those who have made the majority of their cosplay and want to be judged on how well the cosplay came together. Contestants are also encouraged to bring reference materials and build books to showcase their techniques and skills.  

After acceptance, contestants are required to attend a pre-judging slot. Pre-judging will be the time contestants have with the judges to describe how the cosplay was made and present any supporting references. Contestants will receive three (3) minutes for prejudging. Contestants are recommended to arrive five (5) minutes before the assigned time slot to check in at the cosplay booth. Reference pictures or a build book are highly encouraged to be handed in at the pre-judging time. Contestants will be notified of their acceptance and will receive their pre-judging time slot if accepted.  

Contestants will receive one (1) minute or three (3) poses to showcase their creations on the main stage during the contest.

Contest Rules & Eligibility

  • Contestants must be a citizen of a federally recognized United States Indian tribe, a member of an Alaska Native Corporation, or a recognized and documented “Indigenous Peoples” under Canadian law. Members of state-recognized tribes in the United States are not eligible to participate. Contestants from recognized Indigenous communities outside of the U.S. and Canada (e.g. Māori) will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Cherokee Nation Cultural and Economic Development, LLC (“CED”) retains sole discretion in determining whether a contestant is eligible to participate.
  • Contestants must be 16 years of age or older to compete. With the permission of a parent or guardian, individuals under 16 years of age are eligible to compete. 
  • An adult must accompany children under the age of 18. 
  • Contestants must have made 60% of the cosplay. 
  • Contestants must attend an assigned pre-judging time slot during the event.
  • If the cosplay was made by someone other than the entrant, the maker will receive the prize(s). 
  • All reference materials will be returned after the end of the contest. 
  • Group cosplays are allowed. However, groups will only be eligible for one (1) placement award in the contest. 
  • Good sportsmanship is required. 
  • Have fun!  

Skit Contest

Recreate a favorite scene or put something completely original on stage!

Contestants are allowed a max of three (3) minutes to perform the skit. Entries will be capped at seven (7). Skit contestants must send us an audio file of their performance that is a maximum of three (3) minutes to ensure the audience can hear the skit. Audio files may be uploaded during registration or emailed to the cosplay coordinator. Contestants will be notified of their acceptance.

Contestants will be judged based on their personality and stage presence. This contest is for those 16 years of age and up. Contestants will receive one (1) minute or three (3) poses to showcase their creations on the main stage during the contest.
